Pop art is cool again

There was a craze during the naughties for every home in land to have a pop art image of your favorite movie star or sporting hero on the wall. I will admit I used to paint them and sell them but now someone has taken it to a new level www.andyawesome.com

I love these for their simplicity and they make you think. You don't always get them at first and then it hits you ahh that's who its meant to be.

Elegant/alternative wine packaging

I came across some well designed packaging today and these stood out for me. They are, believe it or not wine packaging. The company is called The Mini Garage Wines and Brandies. The wine is produced in a former tractor shop in Germany. [LINK]

I found this cool new alternative to google maps/earth whilst stumbling earlier. One day maybe we will be able to step into a map?? Maybe not!

When I was a boy owning a skate board was like a competition to see who had the craziest cartoon or design on the underneath of the board...I had RADRAT! It was a winner but today I have found this elegantly designed skate board which just oozes cool.

As a designer I use colour to make things look good, to set a mood or style. Pantone is the industry standard when it comes to choosing colours for print work.

Whilst searching the internet I stumbled upon this brilliant typeface. It isn't very practical and you would probably never use it but as piece of design work the way it is executed is excellent.

Comic Sans must die!

So many designers hate Comic Sans. They think people who don't know design are overusing this funny little friendly font, which is nearly every time out of place. Some years ago, type designer Hannes von Döhren created a free alternative to Comic Sans. The difference: It has serifs and a much damn cooler look. The big success of the HVD Comic Serif pushed Von Döhren to create a Pro Version with an eastern, central and Western European language support.

Does anyone remember the really bad movie that Michael Jackson made at the height of his fame. Due to all the hype surrounding his death it got me thinking about his songs and then this popped into my head.

Whether you like him or hate him no one can deny he is a leg-end!

I was surfing around for some inspiration today when I came across something that made me go "ah that's quite clever." I'm not sure I would want them hanging from my living room ceiling but as a form of eco packaging this hit the nail on the head.
